Makassed President Dr. Faisal Sinno inked an agreement with Makhzoumi Foundation Honorary President MP Fouad Makhzoumi to establish the “Fouad and May Makhzoumi Scholarship Fund”.
The Makhzoumi Foundation will offer financial aid to vulnerable families of Makassed students, pumping LL500, 000,000 per year over a period of three years.
The signing ceremony was attended by Makhzoumi Foundation President and Makassed Board of Trustees member Mrs. May Makhzoumi, as well as several Makassed Board of Trustees members, Makhzoumi Foundation’s General Manager Mr. Samer Al-Safah and many other prominent figures from both institutions.
Dr. Sinno praised the Makhzoumi Foundation persistent efforts in supporting Makassed students saying that “the Makhzoumi Foundation continues to extend a helping hand to outstanding students as well as to those with special needs, who wouldn’t have been able to pursue their academic dreams if it wasn’t for contributors such as the Makhzoumi Foundation”.
He added that “Makassed vows to always seek development and success,” indicating that the Association is working on numerous projects that would help boost its productivity.
MP Fouad Makhzoumi said that given the current country’s conditions “we [have to] support our families in Beirut, who are greatly affected by the difficult living circumstances, particularly in the education sector”, praising Makassed for graduating whole generations and “contributing to enriching the Lebanese and Beiruti societies with cadres and competent leaders”.
Makassed’s schools are committed to provide subsidized education to 70% of its students in elementary schools (approximately 8,900 students).
